Joseph Hannis (BA Hons, MISM). Professional Guitarist.

 

Joe is dedicated musician who studied at the Bristol Institute of Modern Music for a degree in Professional Musicianship, achieving the place by a series of auditions. A guitarist, however also a proficient saxophonist, he has experience playing gigs both nationally and internationally. In his time at BIMM, he completed teaching modules and also advanced his sight reading, theory and practical skills to a professional standard, which culminated in him being chosen to be a member of their house band. This had him working as a live session musician for the college and working in various styles ranging from singer/songwriter to rock to jazz to electronica. 

 

As a teacher, Joe teaches students throughout Essex and Hertfordshire, from children as young as four to adults in their 80s. Teaching both groups and one to one, he has experience teaching all abilities and styles, along with relevant skills such as songwriting and music theory. He has lectured at the Hertfordshire College of Music, as well as teaching at their academy. He is fully insured and CRB checked.

 

As a musician, Joe works as a dep guitarist and session musician for bands around the area. His playing having been described as ‘laid back but powerful. Despite only being given the songs a matter of days before, he fitted seamlessly into our line-up for the night and played the parts brilliantly. Previous work also includes assisting world renowned, multi-GRAMMY award and Oscar winning producer Paul Epworth (Adele,

John Legend, Florence and The Machine,

Paul McCartney).This hugely valuable experience taught him about the specifics of recording and mixing techniques with one of the great British producers of today.
